Even in the fifties many homes did not have a bath room or shower. For many bath night involved filling a large tin bath in front of the fire, or a strip wash in the kitchen.

It was common practice for employers to pay women less than men for doing the same job. These women are fighting for equal rights. I don't know why they are wearing the masks, maybe they do not want to be recognised by their husbands or they think they are like Zorro.

 

The Odd British Pub

The licensing laws for the drinking of alcohol has puzzled many visitors to Britain. None more so than around London. Around the big fruit market of Convent Garden the pubs were allowed to open out side of normal hours for the porters of the market only. The general public and military were barred.

 

The two good looking boxers are the young Kray twins. They carved out a career for themselves as gangsters. They spent most of their adult life in prison for murder.
