I was eight

This year started off badly with terrible floods in the east of the country, but turned into a great year. We had the Coronation, extra holidays from school and a free mug. Every school kid was given this wonderful mug but adults had to pay. Everything in the shops was Coronation. We had never seen anything like this before. We had parties in the street with so much to eat. How this was achieved with food rationing still in force was nothing short of a miracle.

Floods accross the country

It was thought that the Queen would have to go to her Coronation by canoe and wearing scuba gear.
