1953

Phew.. What A Year.........

Not only was it Coronation year, but also a great year for sport. At last Stanley Matthews gains his only FA cup winners medal in a 4-3 win over Bolton. He played his first full season in Stokes City's senior team in 1932-3 and his final match at the age of 50 in 1965. A true sportsman.

I do not know if mountain climbing is a sport, but we did well this year. Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Tensing were the first to climb Mount Everest.
