Cars for the masses

The only trouble with the 'Cars for the masses' thing, was the masses went out and bought them. New roads had to be built to carry them, and we are still building them today. One problem that was left over from the war, was road signs, we didn't have any. They were taken down to confuse the Germans, should they invade. It took many years before they were back in place, because of this many a trip to the country turned in to a day trip to London.

Traffic Jam

March 23, 1957 Britain was in the grip of petrol rationing again because of the Suez crisis. This did not deter the masses. Londoners rush to the coast in the early spring sunshine.
